The Crows

Bryan Fell – Guitar, Harmonica, and Vocals

My journey with music began many moons ago.  My mother and father both had impeccable musical taste. Although I had listened to their influences growing up, it was when I first heard The Doors that made me go out and buy a guitar. I was 16 years old, and felt the need to be part of a band. I have always been drawn to dark subject matter.  Lyrics that offend, provoke, and inspire.  My musical influences have taken me from the depths of depression to the highest celebration of the human experience.  I can exist quite comfortably in the haze of sad old country music from the 50’s and 60’s. But sometimes I get that feeling that can only be cured by jumping into a disgusting, drunk filled most pit full of others like me.  I am metal, country, punk, grunge, and blues.  The Jonestown Crows fills all of my needs and it is just where I belong.

Ryan Chrysler– Guitar and Harmonica

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I have been playing the guitar for over 23 years and have been involved in music for 27 years.  In that time I have experienced many different genres, blues being my personal favorite.  Some of my influences include The Doors, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Earl Hooker, David Gilmour and  Muddy Waters. Playing with the Jonestown Crows has been a great experience, we have a great lineup with fantastic musicians and lots of friends and family who support us and our music.

Chris Doerr – Drums, Beatbox, and backup Vocals

I have been playing in rock, metal, grindcore, and punk bands for almost 30 years.  I had a pretty successful rock band in the 90’s that allowed me to tour the country and play close to 1000 gigs.  I give private lessons and take part in a percussion ensemble that performs 2 times a year.  My main drumming influences are Danny Carey (Tool), John Bonham (Led Zepplin), Danny Schuler (Biohazard), and Jean-Paul Gaster (Clutch).  Performing live has always been one of my favorite activities and I center my life around making that happen.

Jebadiah Halfhand – Banjo/Lead Vocals

I’ve been a musician my whole life thanks to my Dad, Jim. Oboe, bassoon, drums, guitar, bass guitar, and later….after I lost my left ring finger….banjo. This is, however, the first real band I’ve been in. My influences are varied, from Opeth and Type O Negative to Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, from Deicide and Faith No More to Aesop Rock and Brother Ali. I love a little of all forms of music, and respect good musicians in whatever genre they play in. The progressive (and extremely dark) nature of Opeth is my biggest influence when I write music. I am honored, and humbled, to be involved in a band with such a high caliber of musical talent. Cheers guys!

Ty Troutman – Washbaord/Persussion

I got my first bass guitar about 15 years ago. I hardly ever played it because not long after I got it, I fell in love with learning how to play the drums and that was always my main focus pertaining to music.. That was until a little over 3 years ago I got a call one day from an old friend who was reappearing in my life, Jebadiah, asking me if I wanted to play bass in a band he was dying to start. Ironically, I had just recently pulled out my old bass guitar and put new strings on it because I was living with a houseful of musicians. I said to him, “I would love to but I don’t really know much about playing the bass. If you don’t mind having to teach me as we go, I would be more than happy to”. So in the very beginning of the Jonestown Crows, Jeb and Nayr took me under their crow wings.

Over all the time and hard work, I’ve learned a lot from each and every crow that took part in the band since day one, and I can’t thank them enough for all their guidance and patience, for giving me this opportunity to grow as a musician, and for recognizing that my heart and soul screams to play music. I am thankful to know so many great musician friends who have helped me along on my musical journey. I like pretty much all types of music, my main influence has always been the all around amazing sounds that come from the band Tool, as well as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush, and other types of dark progressive metal music. By listening to the best, learning from the best and playing with the best, I will have no choice but to become one of the best. \m/urder on!
